Wordcount: 16k
Rating: G

Summary: Ghost hunters Bakugou and Todoroki both pride themselves in seeing things that most people don't. What they don't see, however, is that their feelings for each other aren't as unrequited as they think...

Or: the ghost hunting AU where even the ghosts are fed up with these idiots

Creator notes: We hope you enjoy both the fic and the art!

Hi, it’s Cat (@stripedtabby)

I've become aware of some interesting Curious Cat asks and its answers recently in regard to the newest Big Bang for the tdbk fandom. In this day and age of Fandom, I'm doing this to clear my name, to clear anyone currently participating in TDBKBB, and to clear my event of any future harassment:

I have not asked anyone to send questions on behalf of TDBKBB.

I am not sending CC questions to the Bang.

Honestly, I wasn't going to address this matter in full, because no one has a monopoly on fandom events and I am a believer in the "Holy shit two cakes" principle. However, with how close these events are in name, event style, date of sign up, and platforms used, I felt it was finally time to address this in length.

First and foremost, I want to clarify to the moderators of the other Bang and to the community that TDBKBB (@todobaku_bang) operates primarily on Twitter. I do not know where the assumption came from that we operate on Dreamwidth (DW) as our main platform. Yes, it is a platform that we use to sign up, and post, but again, it is not the primary platform for TDBKBB. It's mostly for mod organization in order to make our Twitter posts (not retweets) simple and easy to use and find.

Where do you operate from?

All promotion, interest, and the like are directly on Twitter. I do not use Tumblr to promote the event specifically. I do not promote anywhere else. I may have used it years ago when I did TDBKBB back in 2018, but not anymore. That platform did not work for me as a moderator and event organizer.

Why Dreamwidth?

When I was running my first Big Bang for Ace of Diamond, I realized that Tumblr was not organized or transparent enough to run my events. So I moved my event to the journaling site, Dreamwidth. The decision to use DW gives me as a moderator, the ability and transparency to do art claims, and sign ups. Tumblr tags were useless in a Bang. We found out that if posted early or as a draft, the post itself wouldn't show up in tumblr tag searches. It was a mess.

It also gives me an organized space to tag, and showcase creators' work in a single link to share. If there were any questions, everything was linked, could be easily found, and nothing was lost due to a flood of reblogs or anon asks. All the information was easy to find.

So how do you communicate with your participants if you only work off of Twitter? No Discord server?

All communication to participants is done via email. I don't see the need for a Discord server. Everyone I know is in multiple servers and since this takes place twice a year, I do not feel the need to have servers to communicate information to participants. I work off Twitter DMs, and the Bang’s primary email. I have had people reach out to me via discord because I am the only moderator so there is no confusion as to who they are speaking to. I always have my phone, so I always try to reply ASAP. I do work a 40+ hour work week, so I make sure any fandom date or due date is on a day off or a time I can dedicate myself to the project. I understand not many people are able to, but I try and manage. On occasion I do ask for help, but I am the only mod for TDBKBB.

The only exception to this, is the TDBKBB channel on a 21+ discord server. But not all participants are 21+ so it is used simply for Twitter sharing, and that is how some participants know my discord. All questions I've gotten have been via DM on various platforms since information can and does get lost in discord servers/channels.

Scheduling Conflicts.

I understand this new bang is currently doing sign ups, and will have its final posting days in March of 2021. Which is fine! Some Bangs run longer than others, there are no official rules for making a Bang. However, to say there is no scheduling conflict or that there was no knowledge of the current bang is confusing to me.

TDBKBB is still currently running. We have multiple creators posting their work and will continue to post their work for the first two weeks of August, including some late entries during the month.

We will have scheduling conflicts for the Winter Reverse, however that is starting mid-October.

I understand people are excited when events open, when creators are posting amazing works accompanied by artwork suddenly. People like community events and they like to participate in them as well. However it did feel a little unprofessional that an interest check would happen during peak posting days and that the moderators of the other Bang did not reach out when they found out about the overlap.

Please do not use the success of hard working creators to fill a similar event.
